SFD (Lite) Report - Muktagacha Municipality CWIS-FSM Support Cell, DPHE (2023)

Muktagacha Municipality is located within the Muktagacha Sub-District (Upazila) situated in the Mymensingh District (Zila) under Mymensingh Division. The geographical coordinates of Muktagacha are 24° 75' N and 90° 27' E longitude. It is bordered on the north by the Upazilas of Mymensingh Sadar and Jamalpur Sadar, on the south by the Upazila of Fulbaria, on the east by the
Upazilas of Madhupur, and on the west by the Upazilas of Mymensingh Sadar and Jamalpur Sadar. According to the population census in 2011 by the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS), the Muktagacha city population was 49,913 the urban population growth in Muktagacha is 2.83% per year. Considering 10% floating population, such as farmers and traders coming to the city every day, the present (2023) population is estimated to be around 76,744. The household survey results show that majority of the occupation is business (35%), followed by labourer (22%) and private service (24%). The outcome of the SFD graphic shows that only fifteen percent (15%) of the excreta flow is classified as safely managed, and the remaining eighty five percent (85%) is classified as unsafely managed.
